Selecting Window Covering
There are many ways that you can decorate your windows. You've got the selection of horizontal blinds, vertical blinds, window screens, or roller shades, and that's solely to name a couple. Prior to heading down the road of puzzlement you must begin by asking a few questions.
What sort of space are you working with?
Don't only target the window space but have a look at the entire room. It isn't relevant if you are doing one room or an entire house. Look at the room on it's own. Consider the placement of the room. North-facing windows bring in consistent light but could subject your house to the coldest exposure. For this you would want to consider energy-saving window treatments. They'll also help with the cooling and heating bills since 40% of heat escapes through windows. That's something to consider in each room of your place.
East-facing windows offer bright light early in the morning. That means that the room will heat up fast. There are options which will help capture the heat so it diffuses it before it comes in, such as cellular or pleated shades. Also, the traditional drapery would work well, although, it isn't applicable for each room.
West-facing windows are the worst for letting in the most light that is harmful. Rooms with these windows should be ones that block out the UV rays. You would want to consider energy-saving window treatments.
Southerly facing windows are the best for consistent, natural light. You need to have window treatments that permit in light but also have the option for defense against the light.
What is your style?
The next thing you must do is consider your style. You need to consider your likes and dislikes. Styles are constantly changing. What you like one day you'll hate the next. You want to think about what will make you happy overall. Also, fashion in the world changes, so find something that you are comfortable with. Some classes are; Old American Style, Casual Style, Latest/Modern/Simplified Style, Western european Style, Formal Style, Normal Style, and the Rustic Style. These are the hottest styles that people customarily go back to and are safe.
What are your wishes?
Is there only adults in the house or are there kids running around. As straightforward as a question this is, it will make you stress out if you pick the incorrect one. When there are youngsters around you need to think safety first. This doesn’t have to limit you but there is definitely the wrong choices out there with youngsters in the home.
Another significant factor is pricing. What's your budget? For the head of the line, most in-style window treatments out there, you could be spending a large amount of money.
What is the shape of your window? If you have a clumsy formed window, this will limit you on what you select.
Do you need it sound absorbent? Do you need it energy efficient? Do you need it simply cleanable? These are all critical things to ask yourself. In the following article, I'm going to go into each of these questions in finer detail to help you know what kind of window treatments work for you.
